So the other week I signed up for an art class. Life Drawing, as I've never done it before, and I thought taking a class might be fun. I got my reccomended tools sheet in the mail and off to the Hobby Lobby I went. They reccomended either charcoal, pastels or conte crayons. Now, I have charcoals, and I have soft pastels out the wazoo. Pastels are my very favorite medium ever. I have a few sets including one lovely set of nothing but skin tones. Did this stop me from buying all new pastels at the craft store? If you said yes, you don't know me very well.

Which meant I had nice new soft pastels all cozy in their little foam slots. New art supply smell is better than new car smell, and much cheaper. But now that I have new art supplies I have to take them on a test drive. I can't bring a brand new set to art class or I'll look like a poser. So instead of using my old worn in sets, I have to break in the new set to look used. Yes, I'm an idiot. But it's fun.

And whaddaya know?

Now, i know there are still a lot of technical issues with this. Hair didn't turn out at all right and the nose-mouth-chin length proportions are always out with me...but still. Not bad for someone who hasn't picked up a pastel in over 5 years, don't you think?

At first it was going to be a girl, and I *think* it still might be. But mostly I think it ended up as a Live Action Shuichi from Gravitation. What do you think?
