Fic Prompts?

flidgetjerome who requested Iron Man AU in Professor Layton land. The ficlet wanted to recreate the whole plot of 'Prof. Layton and the Diabolical Box' but I was refusing. Mostly because there is no script or even comprehensive plot summary that I could find.

Mimicked fromtwigcollins and flidgetjerome because I enjoyed writing those little fic bits instead of my old nano.
Give me a fandom and an AU situation (and a pairing, if you want) and I'll attempt to write a snippet. Fandoms include: Top Gear, Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Who 9,10 & 11, Phoenix Wright, Professor Layton, Merlin, Avatar (either), Iron Man movieverse, tentatively Marvel comics in general, though I'll never feel like I've read enough backstory to get it right, and the old standbys Detective Conan/Kaito Kid-verse and Card Captor Sakura. And if I'm not saying something you really want, ask anyway and we'll see what I can do.

I like Long Weekends
May. 30th, 2010 07:45 pmSo yesterday I went to the opening day of the town farmer's market, which is low on vegetables, and high on banana bread and doilies. The girl that started the local knitting group has a booth there, and I went and knit a sock and hung out with her instead of getting my usual strawberry pancakes and writing at my coffee shop. But I wanted to be good and work on the rewrite of my old nano (which is VERY slowly making progress). So I went there for lunch instead and discovered that....I'd left the hard copy of the chapter I'm rewriting at home.
I already didn't get anything accomplished on Wednesday because the credit card thing threw me, and I ran home to take care of that. So I was doubly determined to get something done on Saturday. But since I couldn't work on my Nano, I wrote Iron Man 2 fic instead. And then I remembered I did actually make myself a fic journal when I was being ambitious. Propiniquity - A drabble about Natasha's wardrobe. I'd really love for TLo to do a breakdown of the costuming in IM2
Star in a Reasonably Priced Car - Tony Stark appears on Top Gear. No spoilers for IM2 past what's already in the trailer, but the more Top Gear you know, the better. But I have links for everything relevant, and some things that aren't, in the story header.

Original Characters versus Mary Sues
May. 20th, 2010 07:46 amSo I've been working on this a bit, though it's not as coherent as it ought to be yet. But when I was at Anime Boston, and going to all the writing panels, I was really struck by how much people wanted to talk about OCs and Mary Sues. When twigcollins and I briefly touched on it, that's when all the hands went up. And then the next day at another panel, a huge chunk of time was eaten up by discussing OCs. So obviously this is something People Want To Know About.
And so when I was in Japan and stuck in a waiting room before I was allowed to go visit a plant, and after I'd made a list of all the knitting projects I have planned, I started to write up My Thoughts onYaoi Original Characters.

So there it is. I'd like to hear your opinions on all of this. I usually figure out my own opinions to things socratically, so it would be really helpful to me too. You post a topic, list, category, whatever, in my comments section. (examples: "Five Things Mal Renyolds Remembers About His Childhood", or "Five colours the Torchwood Hub was painted" or "Five Things Mitchell Will Never, Ever Tell George"). Then, in a separate post, I'll post the answers to your Top 5 ideas, according to me. Serious or fun!
