Further Star Wars Ruminations
Jun. 10th, 2005 11:25 amWhile I always thought that costuming is one of the best parts about the Star Wars universe, (come on, as bad as Ep 1 was, what girl didn't go home and try her lipstick that way? assuming you wear it, that is) I have some issues about it in Ep 3. They may also apply to Ep 2, but I still haven't seen it.
1. Going back to Vader, I still think he had to get the outfit out of a catalog. And that there's probably a ton of other people running around dressed just like him.
(Also, Vader is like, really tall. Anakin wasn't especially. Especially after, uh, you know. I bet he told them to make him taller when they made the suit.)
2. Amidala sleeps in bejeweld nightclothes? Painful. She must always sleep on her back. I can't even type with a watch on because it bothers me. I can't imagine sleeping with a big mass of gems on my chest.
3. Why do Jedi even bother having robes? They shed them at every opportunity. I never had a chance to think more than 'Oh, Obi-Wan's got his robe on' before he shucked it and went out fighting. If you KNOW you're going into battle, why wear the robe in the first place?
Of course I think of these things to keep thinking of the great great pain of the acting.
