How I long for a grapefruit...

I have a new laptop, it's name is Aoshima. Hopefully this will christen it as a happy-go-lucky, earnest and hardworking machine that runs a lot. I went to Hiroshima on the morning bus, and got there about nine. There's supposed to be one store in Hiroshima that sells Overseas Model laptops, but I sure as hell couldn't find it. Not even the trolley stop that the directions indicate existed anymore.

(In fact, if you are ever in Japan and are in need of an English OS computer, beware the Sony Vaio page that gives you locations for all the shops. The instructions are rather crap. The maps are ok though.)

So I went back to the station and caught the noon shinkansen into Osaka. From there to Den Den Town, which is Osaka's answer to Akihabara. Went into the first store on my map, bought the model they had and went right back to Hiroshima. I made the shinkansen by 1 minute exactly. Then I came home on the 6:30 bus from Hiroshima and was home by 9. What a day!

So far Aoshima is a good little computer. I have most of my stuff loaded to it, and my parents will be shipping me the Adobe installation CD's for Photoshop and Go Live. Now I just have to get hooked up to the internet (God only knows when that'll be) and download the other bits and bobs I need.

for 179000 yen I got a new VAIO laptop with DVD/CD-RW drive, 40 gig harddrive, 3 USB ports, wireless ready, and a 15 inch screen. It's about the same thing as I had before plus the internal CD burner and the wireless. Only it's about half the price! I'm not happy that I had to get a new computer (Honestly, is there something wrong with me? I seem to go through these a lot) but I'm pretty happy with my replacement.

May this be the turn of good for the coming year!

what's your graphic hardware? *waves the Evil Myst:Uru game at you* I sure as f- can't play it, my card is too old. Maybe you're new vaio comes with something better?

It has a Raedon or whatever....but don't go packaging it with Twig's next shipment of comics. I still say steal her computer when she's not looking. Perhaps when she's at the Mew's?
