We're gonna go go saint, loo-hoo-ey
Jul. 15th, 2005 09:53 amOk, not St. Louis. But my dad just got a job in Kansas City! I'm glad because I've been worried about my parents lately since Dad lost his job...but there really wasn't anything I could do to help.
So now they have to move. It should be good for them, since both of their families are from the Kansas City area, and I know Mom loves KC. They're a little worried since the reason we left KC in the first place was not to get involved in family politics. But I think they're strong enough to set some boundaries...not going to every recital & soccer game, not ever family meal, ect.
I'm a little saddened by it too, since it means I won't see them nearly as often. A three hour drive wasn't bad, but nine is pushing it. That and since Exgentlemen & husband (and a belated LJ congrats to you too!) are moving out to Oregon in August...I'll really have no reason to ever go back to Michigan again, which is a weird thought.
But my parent's move is probably a ways off, months and months. The house needs a lot of work before it can go on the market, and then it will have to sell. I'll probably be spending a lot of weekends up there from now on helping to fix it up.
The smart thing for me to do I think, would be to go and buy a new car before the GM deal is over so I have something reliable to drive up to MI, and then maybe use my vacation time for some three day redecorating weekends with Mom.
