This weekend was lovely. My parents came down to visit, so I could take them to go see Homeland at the Dublin Pub. And it being both my birthday weekend and Easter Weekend wasn't bad in the bargain. We got a tiny and decadent cake from Coldstone. I don't remember what it was, but it was rich enough to send you into sugar shock just by touching the plate it was on. It was some kind of Chocolate/Vanilla thing I think, because Mom and I really couldn't agree on a cake. (Really meaning that the rasberry & coffee cakes were off limits)

They gave me the best present. I was completely floored. It's a 3 foot lamp of one of Xi'an's terra-cotta soldiers. Dad found a statue, apparently, and they had it made into a lamp. It gives off as much light as my three-bulb floorlamp and is much warmer. Seeing him every morning renews my vow to get back over there and actually see them this time instead of getting sick. I'll try and put up a picture of it later today, once I get home.

Then Saturday night we went to see Homeland and ran into [livejournal.com profile] rlanto and [livejournal.com profile] generalmanda, which was great. It was also Rlanto's birthday weekend, so she was having quite a party on the other side of the pub.

Then Sunday my parents went through a flurry of home improvement, getting rid of all my cardboard boxes, re-arranging my lamps and putting up curtains and valences. I grumbled and dragged my feet through all of it, but it really does look nice now. After they left I settled down for the Agrabah stage of Kingdom Hearts and watched National Geographic specials on Mary Magdeline and the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake.
