*sigh*
Ok, so today was going pretty well. I even found out that I got a pretty generous raise that will kick in in January. Too bad they're making me straight salaried. Goodbye overtime pay!! But it should be more after taxes than I usually make when I do a lot of overtime. So that's good. It should take some of the bite out of my car payments. The no overtime thing pretty much blows.

Then I got home and found out that my apartment flooded. I knew that the apartment beside mine was vacant, but I didn't know that the one above it was vacant too. Skipped town it looks like. And, since people that skip town are so considerate, they left their sliding glass door open. So the pipes froze. The water went all into the apartment underneath it, and then started to get into mine. (>o<) So I spent most of tonight dealing with a plummer and maintenance guy sucking all the water out. Or at least, most of it. They fixed the pipes in the upstairs apartment, but they couldn't suck out the water, because the electricity there was cut off. So my floors are still a little squishy. But luckily the water didn't get far enough to damage any of my furniture. For once I'm glad I DON'T have a dining room set.

Ah well. Anyway, to distract myself from all that I thought I might show you all the present I got myself for finishing Nanowrimo. Made possible by a pretty big bonus at work.

It's Alexandrite, so it changes color from a warm purple to a green, depending on whether it's under florecent lights or natural daylight. I think it's REALLY pretty.

Whoo. That's... very beautiful. *distracted by the shiny thing*

But! Shininess aside, I'm sorry to hear about your apartment which... obviously, not so shiny. >_< I'm glad to hear it didn't get as far as it could have. *hug* Hope it turns out all right; my family's been having to deal with our own kind of water problems lately... Maybe both of us will luck out soon.

Well, floors are still a little bit squishy, but everything else seems like it's working out well. Hope your water problems will 'dry up' soon!

Oh! Also, just got your X-mas card. THANK YOU!!! It was a wonderful surprise.

Wow. That is gorgeous! Congrats on the bonus, as well, and a "Bob" for the flooding- to round the whole post out. So does the straight salary come with a new title and more responsibilities or have you just impressed them beyond all words. ( I'd believe you if you said "impressed them beyond all words", cause you're awesome like that.)

LOL. Not so much for new responsibilities. Maybe I can get them to fix my business cards to have my e-mail. I probably impressed Ogawa...but that's not really that hard. If he ever got snippy I can just remind him where he learned to download Japanese TV from.

Thanks! I hope the green color is pretty, but my hours and the weather haven't cooperated to let me see it in natural light yet.
