Today has been some day, I'll tell you!

I started today by going to a Job Fair. Well to be honest I started the day going to Kinkos to copy my resume. THEN I went to the Job Fair. It was actually pretty dissapointing. There was only one company I really wanted to talk to, and they didn't show. So I talked to the people at the Aflack booth who were setting up interviews for anything that moved. I think they may have even set up an interview with the stuffed duck on their table, I don't know. I thought, what the hey, it can't hurt, and signed up for an interview myself on Tuesday Morning. I also talked to a Native American owned contract-to-hire place. The girl there was very enthusiatic over my resume because she had a client who was looking for someone who spoke "Asian."

So I left after hardly any time there at all. I got home and there were two messages on my answering machine. Odd. One was from a Japanese headhunting agency I talked to last week, and the other was someone I didn't know, also talking about my resume. The J-agency (as it will henceforth be called) told me that the company in Macomb decided they wanted a face-to-face interview. Yeay! So we started setting that up for Thursday. I called back the other lady, who's line was busy. I went to hang up the phone, but then realized there was another message. Someone called while I was answering the other two calls!

It was another company calling back about a resume I sent on Friday. I don't really have high hopes for this thing. I mostly sent in the resume so that I could tell my parents that I sent a resume. It's all very, "Do you want an exciting CAREER!? Are you tired of folding Sweaters!?!?" If a want ad could say OMG!!!1!!, this would. But what the hell. So they want an interview Tuesday afternoon.

I called Mom to report on the good fortune, then got out of my nice suit and made some soup. Just as I set my soup down the phone rang. It was the second lady calling back. She turned out to be another headhunter looking for someone for Company X. She promised to e-mail me a business document from Company X to test my translation skillz. I went back to my soup. But before I could, the phone rang again. It was ANOTHER headhunter. Telling me they had a job with Company X. I think they were more than a bit put off when I told them Company X already had my resume.

I ate my lunch and puttered around a bit, working on the translation, which was difficult seeing that I no longer have a kanji dictionary. Then the J-agency called again. They had another job in Ohio they want me to do a phone interview for on Wednesday morning. Then Mom came home and I grumbled my way off to go buy a kanji dictionary and fill up my gas tank. I also bought a very large coffee. With a shot of hazelnut.

When I got home, Mom told me I had two phone calls. One from the one lady, who I called back, but her line was busy again....and one from the Aflack guy who wanted to reschedule. So I did for Wednesday afternoon. Then I did my best to translate the page, until my brains turned to mush and I can no longer translate even 一、二、三.

So please please wish me luck on these. I seem to have luck getting to the headhunters, and a little getting to interview, but not to get the actual job. So I could use all the luck and prayers I can get.

Oh yeah, I have subbed VCD's of Odoru Daisousasen!

And I think I quit Nano.

I guess it's good to know that Japan's not the only country who believes in the great all encompassing 外国語! And thanks for the sentiment. Right now I'm rooting for either of the J-agency's ones. Not the "OMG!" one.

Well, four out of five(?) jobs are in Michigan. And the other's in Ohio. So I think my odds are pretty good of not ending up in, say, Mongolia. ^_- I'm just hoping I can get SOMETHING, and then I can bitch about my job just like everyone else. XD
