Reach out and Teach Someone
Oct. 20th, 2003 12:07 pmHey peoples. I know there are some people that read this blog from different places around the world. And I'm wondering if you'd be able to help me out with a special class we're doing for my 8th graders. The idea is that the students divide into groups, and each group has a cell phone. And at some point during that activity there will be a phone call from a foreigner. The students have to find out who has called, where they're from, what time it is, what the weather is and what the temperature is.
This isn't set in stone. We're deciding now whether to go with actual foreigners, or see if there are other ALT's willing to pretend they're out of the country. But if you would be willing to call Japan around 10:15 a.m. Japan time (9:15 pm. eastern) on November 4th please let me know. My students are all cute and genki and excited about other countries, even if they're not very good at english. And each call should be fairly short, they're only allowed to ask you to repeat something once. I'm looking for different time zones, different countries here. And at the moment I don't know if we can compensate you for the call, but it's possible we could work something out.
Please help us out! ann@kaitou.net
