Warning: Pointless Geekery ahead.

So I was reading a Stargate fanfic the other day....I know, shut up.....And the fic was neither particularly good or bad. But it mentioned something that got me thinking. Cafeteria Workers. I mean, in this show like in so many SF things, you've got a secret government project no one's supposed to know about. Yet MUST be staffed by hundreds. Cause you know the military, scientists, spies and/or bureaucrats aren't sweeping the floor or serving up the hamburger surprise.

So who does the menial work? Do they have to have special clearance and training? Maybe Clorox doesn't work on alien stains. Can they quit if they want to?

I'm totally going to write a story about this someday.

mmm, Stargate. :3 uh, I assume they get clearance or something. Either that, or they're low rank military. :P

Kinda reminds me of a scene from Clerks, where Dante and Randall are discussing all the independent contractors who must have been casualties of the destruction of the second Death Star.
