The cake was not a lie
Apr. 14th, 2008 12:50 pmThanks everyone for the nice birthday wishes. I had a good day and spent waay too much money on books. (I could have easily spent three times as much, though Mom didn't believe I was being 'Good.' How could I pass up books like 'Travel in Ancient Times?' She's just lucky I didn't ALSO buy 'Ancient Rome on Five Denarii a Day,' and 'The History of Citrus.')
Lunch Saturday was a bit of a disaster, though. I went up to Detroit and spent my birthday with my Mom. She had plans to make dinner, but I wanted to eat at least one meal at a restaurant. (St. Marys has McDonalds, and the next town over has a Bob Evans. Blegh.) So off we went to one of my very, very favorite places, a BBQ place called 'Red Hot and Blues.'
It was gone!!
twigcollins, I know will share my grief. They've moved to a new location in another city. And while I'm glad for their sake, I'm heartbroken. They made the only potato salad that I like.
So then we decided to have Japanese, and we headed off for 'Akasaka.' We got there about 2:12 to find out that the restaurant was closed between 2 and 5. We drove back up to where we started to try a different Japanese place to find out that it didn't open till 5:30. We tried another area only to see that both of their restaurants were closed.
Eventually we just had sandwiches at Cosi. (Which I do admit were awesome.)
Then we went home, both got on our laptops, read fanfiction and ate cake. It was a good birthday.
