I'm home from a lovely visit with all the lovely ladies of thehouseofmews, who fed me on sushi and decadent cupcakes (chocolate stout cupcake with irish cream-buttercream icing anyone?). It was a fantastic weekend of geekery, and I hope I can go back and visit again soon.

I feel very lucky that I've gotten to see exgentlemen, ideographer, mewschangeling, mewsgryphoncat, mewsrissicat and soranokumo in such a short amount of time. It's lovely to visit friends and know that you are loved for you.

(this reminds me, groveperson, we are going to have to get together soon too!)

I couldn't try those, nor the "Cosmo" (Vanilla Cake with Vodka and Lime Soaked Cranberries! Topped with Lime Butter Cream & Lime Garnish)

But they also have vegan options which is really nice, Chocolate-Cherry this time. (Chocolate, covered with dark chocolate glaze and cherry icing)

You know, I was a doubter of vegan baked goods until I had to make a vegan chocolate cake for one of my student advisees. We didn't tell any of her friends there was anything special about it, and they devoured it like those ants in the amazon that leave nothing but bones behind. I got major with generation On Beyond Zebra at that point.

*nods* I'm not so much "vegan" as limited in my options due to an unexpected allergy to eggs (they induce migraines in me... three-day-long migraines). Thus, baked goods are all to be viewed as food of the devil, unless I happen to know they're vegan. That's like the proverbial "green light".
