kaitouI bought the neatest scrapbooking tool this weekend, and though I don't think that anyone else is a scrapbooker on my flist, a lot of people are arty folk and this might come in handy for them...
A laser ruler!
No hobby is complete without lasers.
It's designed so you can write in a straight line without having to draw lines on anything. But the really slick part is that it has a dial so you can angle it, and then have parallel angled lines. And if you had two, you can join them together and have intersecting lasers. I thought it was pretty sweet.
