kaitou: (bad day)

I have decided that I really, really hate snow. It was coming down like a snowglobe this morning when I left for work. I thought about taking the route that goes through the town to work, but I decided to take the highway since they're usually less slick. So of course, about a quarter of a mile from getting on the highway the truck in front of me must have hit a patch of ice.

He swerved sharply to each side, and I just had time to think, "Oh shit! he must have hit ice!" when I hit the ice and spun out. I went in circles and ended up in the ditch. The guy who spun out ahead of me, the lady in front of him and I all got out of our cars and assured each other that we and our cars were all all right, and that that was as freaky as hell.

I thought that I could get my car unstuck, but I was wrong. But just when I was thinking 'well, now what do I do?' a policeman showed up and helped me get the car out and back on the road.

So I'm totally ok, and my car is totally ok, and everyone else and their cars are totally ok. But what a way to start the morning!

*huggle* Man, that exact same thing happened to me back in MI - scary stuff. Good for a morning jolt to wake you up. I am so glad you are ok and your car is ok and everyone else is ok.

It's actually kind of exciting after you realize there's no car damage and nobody's hurt.

*HUGS*

Although the adreneline was very high I was mostly thinking, "Well, I've never had any sort of accident while driving, I suppose I was due." (I see no reason to count the time the one guy barely tapped my bumper at a stop light and made the plate fall off.)

I'm really glad that that policeman came by to help me get unstuck though. I'm not sure what I would have done then. But thanks to him I wasn't even late for work!

Thanks! Me too! I'm glad I'm now out in the coutnry and there weren't many cars on the road. Might have been bad if there weren't only three of us.

That sounds horribly scary and dramatic of the non-fun sort.

I was just talking to my coworker today about how much fun it is to drive through snow. I always imagine we'll spin out and get buried in a snow-drift and the survivors will have to resort to cannibalism to survive until the Spring thaw comes.

yeah, not so much fun when you've only been in town a week and don't know anyone who could help you HAD something gone bad.

But really, it was over in like, 15 seconds, and by second 16 I knew I was ok, and by 60 seconds I was sure the car and other people were ok.

So, horribly scary, but only for about a minute. Then it was buisness as usual.
