I'm seriously hating the Christmas shopping this year. Most people on my list are the type to just go ahead and get what it is they want. So anything left on their list is more of a 'well, I have to say something so I'll go with this.' I'm that kind of person myself, so I shouldn't complain. If I want it badly enough, I'll get it. If I don't want it badly enough, well, I don't really need it.
Then there are the family obligations, buying presents for all the littles on mom's side. I don't really have a problem with this, except that I can't find anything appropriate and...frankly, these kidlets don't need presents either. They are ridiculously spoiled. (And I mean that in a material way and not a personality way. They're also all ridiculously sweet.) The 3 year old already has a full blown guitar, t-ball set, and pretty much any other toy one can imagine.
I've been across the mall and all over the web, looking for interesting kids books, educational toys, multi-ethnic toys, fair trade toys, tree plantings, buying goats or tools in 3rd world countries, video games (PS3 games are like, woah expensive, I will stick to the DS for now) CDs, DVDs, silly hats, soaps, perfumes, and LED water faucets.
I generally suck at the holidays, but I don't want to. I really want to be nice and generous and all 'roast goose for everyone!' But it just feels like everything is just going through the motions.
