Aug. 3rd, 2003 11:06 am1. What's the best thing about living in Japan? Why?
There are two great things about living and teaching where I am. One, is the kids. Especially 1st-3rd grade elementary students. Even though I hate the "Seven Steps" song with all my heart and soul, there is still something very special about holding hands and singing together. And tickle fights and hugs. And it's just nice to have people who are happy to see you. The other thing I like about living in Japan is the scenery. It is so beautiful out here. I saw 9 cranes the other day. NINE. Against a backdrop of rice paddies and misty mountains.
2. The worst? Why?
The worst is lonliness. Japan is still a very insular country, especially in the backwoods where I am. And some days it's a struggle just to be treated as a human being, and not a trick monkey.
3. What are you going to do after you move back to the states?
This is a very tough question. I have no idea. I'm thinking of maybe going back to school, but I don't know. Of course, whatever I do, it would be on the grand path to becoming a famous writer.
4. What is with the obsession with Tea Dogs?
They're cute. Duh. Next question.
5. Who would you rather date, Hakuba or Kaito? Why?
Hmm. Tough question. Hakuba would be an absolute gentlemen. And that would drive me absolutely insane I'm sure. It would have to be Kaito, I'm a sucker for magic tricks. Of course, I perfer that they date each other. ^_-
