1. Nickname in high school?
For the most part I didn't have one. I was briefly known as "Ann, Ann, the star wars fan" which then turned into a song, with an accompanying dance. And, believe it or not (I hardly do myself) I was also nicknamed 'Diabolique.'

2. Sport you were into?
Freshman year I got my black belt in Tae Kwon Do, Sophmore and Jr. Year Dad and I did fencing, and at the tail end of Senior Year I started learning Stage Fighting.

3. Had a circle of friends?
Many of the same friends from Middle School, which widened into a lot of the more bookish people in Marching Band and Orchestra (I was the only one who didn't play an instrument) and I joined the Role Playing Club pretty quickly, and became friends with all the freaks and geeks.

4. Best subject?
Anthing English. Hands down. Also very good at History and Art. Loved my Art Studio classes where you could work in whatever medium and on whatever subject you chose all the while insulting each other and making wookie noises.

5. Worst subject?
Pre-Calculus. I was miserable. Parents even had me going to see a tutor who told me 'sometimes you just have to accept failure.' When I failed the midterm I quit and took Art instead. I still can't remember exactly how I went about doing that, but I did.

6. A teacher you owe life lessons to?
I'm not sure about 'life lessons.' Mrs. Tompkins was right about the kind of class you hate then and appreciate later. I learned a bit on what NOT to be like from a few of them. I've tried to be more firm and less timid than my Japanese teacher. From Mr. Bacon I learned about taking the time to get to know the quieter teachers...the kind no one thinks are funny, because they are and they care and I feel like a better person for getting to know them.

7. A teacher you wanna kick in the ass?
My WWII history teacher. I was so looking forward to a more in depth focused history class, and it was a total cake walk for losers. Actually, wouldn't kick him because I got my revenge at the time. I used to balance pens and pencils on my desk during class, paying no attention whatsoever, but I got hundreds on all the quizzes and projects so he couldn't do anything about me. I must have been a nightmare, and I'm glad.

8. Freshman year?
Wrote my first 'book,' 189 pages of bad. But I learned to type.

9. Sophomore year?
Unremarkable.

10. Junior year?
Finally got into the swing of things. Started taking AP classes and doing what I liked. Active in Roleplaying club, Japanese Club, Quiz Bowl and some others.

11. Senior year?
Not bad at all, actually. Outside of Math anyway. Liked my teachers and classes. Did an independant study class and took tons of AP tests. Was the first (and probably last) person to ever attempt the Art History AP test.

12. Your best friend was?
Karen and Jess.

13. Your worst friend was?
Don't think I had one. Karen was sometimes annoying because she stressed out very easily and would call me to cry about AP BC Calc where she was getting B+'s while I was literally failing Pre-Calc. But she was awesome the rest of the time, so no complaints really.

14. Cafeteria food sucked?
Friday, Domino's. I rest my case.

15. Most hilarious school rule?
I can't think of anything too too bad. I was a goody two shoes, and wasn't really aware of anything.

16. Wore uniforms?
No.

17. How was the prom?
Ok I guess. I went stag, so not as much fun as it would have been, of course. I'm glad I went because if I hadn't gone I wouldn't have KNOWN it wasn't a big deal. And I do like to dance. But it really had nothing on the Coming Home dance that me and a few friends crashed and danced like silly. Or Homecoming where the goth's wore top hats and tails. (Our goth's had STYLE)

18. Who was prom king and queen?
I have no clue.

19. Any achievements?
What the hell, I like to toot my horn. I got my black belt, got certified to work on Local Cable Access, got 5's (that's top) in both AP English tests, 4's on the History ones and a 3 in Art history and Psychology. I won an honorable mention in a HS Art contest Senior year.

20. Were you popular?
Not popular at all, but not un-popular either. Brains were actually a good thing in my HS, so I knew a lot of the popular kids and got along with them just fine. Also got along with the geeks and nerds and goths. I was considered an interpreter of one group to the other. I think more people knew me than I knew them.

21. Best song that reminds you of high school?
Hm. Maybe, Our Lady Peace's "Life" Angst, but essentially hopeful.

22. Unforgettable high school crush?
Ben. Smart and cute and talented and had a big crush on another girl named Anne.

23. Most embarrassing moment?
Hm. The time I tripped and fell down a hill during a physics experiment while attempting to be cool. When we got back to class the guy who sat in front of me turned around and said, "Hey, did you hear Ann fell?" Me: "Yeah. I'm Ann." Guy: "Oh..." Though honestly even at the time I thought it was kind of funny.

24. Memory you'd like to forget about high school?
The time I burst into tears in Creative Writing and couldn't seem to stop.

25. Best memory?
Tough one. I actually have a lot of good memories from HS. Up there would be sitting in the weight room with Jess during gym class and wondering if all the iron in the room would kill our Changeling RP characters and how they would survive gym class.... or making Louis XIV Monopoly that turned out so well everyone wanted to play.... Or just Mrs. Tompkins saying that I'd nailed the reasoning behind Claudius's speech in Hamlet better than anyone else and reading it aloud.

26. Any regrets?
I wish I had either worked harder on my college applications, or relaxed more in general.

27. Would you like your "future child" to attend your high school?
Yes. I really liked my HS, and I think for the most part it stayed the same since. I never felt shunned because I was a brain or into fantasy or anything. It was a good school for smart kids and artsy kids.

28. Were the bathrooms clean?
Yes.

29. How were the lunch ladies?
Nice enough I think.

30. Lyrics would best describe your high school life?
Can't think of anything. ">

I'd forgotten about 1a. I did see Kevin R a few months ago. Same old Kevin.

I'd love to know where the "Diabolique" came from, though.
