Stormgren, Flidget, thanks for the heads-up about the website expiring. It's been taken care of, but it'll take a bit to take effect. The experiation came while I was without computer, so I didn't get the warning e-mail that it was going to expire, then of course I couldn't get my e-mail at all! I thought it had something to do with the school computer.
Nandemo nai!
Date: 2004-01-09 02:04 am (UTC)Not a problem. I did something stupid with obsidianmoon.com last year involving a transfer too close to a renewal that left me without service for about three days before it dropped.
At work, I also deal with more mail issues due to expired domains. Insurance agents seem to have problems paying their bills for some reason. And it's somehow *my* fault the mail bounces.

Sudden Panicky Thought

Date: 2004-01-09 11:51 am (UTC)Short Answer: Everything should be quite all right.
SlightlyLongerAnswer: If you know the IP address of your webserver (A good thing to know, for things like this (66.33.209.43, BTW), you'd probably be able to FTP to it right now and see that all your files are there.
It's as if you had to take care of your White Pages listing separately from your telephone number. If the listing were to still expire, your house would still exist, right?
All the domain record does is provide an initial listing for the Name Servers Of The World to track down who knows what the addresses for "kaitou.net" are, both DNS and realspace.
The worst that's going to happen is a few bounced emails until it's had time to propagate to the root servers. Which, for each of them, IIRC, is midnight local time for each server (but it's been a little while since I've looked at that).
(Which is probably more than you wanted to you, but hey, I can't resist the opportunity to lecture about the Internet)

Date: 2004-01-10 04:00 am (UTC)I tend to give rather big glomps as far as they go. Another way to put it would be 'Flying Tackle Hug'
Think the term came out of the Ranma fandom, the sound effect of Shampoo enthuastically attaching herself against Ranma-kun. ^^;;
I do them in real life -hit and run hugs- but am still having to learn how not to inadvertantly put shoulders in bad places while hugging. More practice is required. >D
My on-line glomps are usually as above, but some friends *Glomp!* or (Glomp), depending on their mood. ^__^
That help?
