Well today is my 1 year anniversary of moving to Dayton. It's been some year. When I moved here I really really feared. There seemed to be nothing but Bob Evans and Walmart. (There are 3 Bob Evans in a 3 mile radius from my apartment. No city needs this much gravy) And when I asked about a bookstore people pointed to the Walmart and the Christian Reading room.

But things have gradually gotten better. I still worry about the gravy thing, but it turns out that the Walmart has an excellent section of fresh & interesting food. It has pocky, organic tofu, lamb, and frozen thai food that's actually from Thailand. I've found the Borders. (But it does surprise me that I can ALWAYS park in the front row in the parking lot. In Detroit we usually had to park waaaay away.)

Between my Bookclub and Nanowrimo I've managed to meet a lot of great people. The cream of the crop of Dayton I think. Now I've added a 'Dorky Craft Club' and a couple of writers groups to my social life.

I still don't think Dayton is where I want to stay forever or anything, but I'm pretty pleased with how the year has gone.

I'm glad you're around. It took me abotu 3 years to adjust from Cleveland and Pittsburgh to Dayton, but so far it hasn't been a 100% bust. I have to say that when I found my current group of friends, I knew I would be fine.

Am very glad you've found the nifty dork population within Dayton... but I still miss living near you and Twig.
