Fangirl Executif!
Sep. 19th, 2005 07:34 pmWe had a fire alarm at work today. I'm still not sure what happened, but the most likely story is someone smoking in the bathroom. Or I suppose a welding machine actually could have caught fire, it has before. But we usually dont' have an alarm when that happens. But the funny thing was that my boss and I, who were discussing the uses of the word 'lend' and 'borrow' didn't even stop talking, just took the conversation outside.
Then we were joined by one of the arc welders who's wife is Japanese and downloads J-Dorama off the internet just like Ogawa and I do, and we all agreed that Dragonzakura was a pretty nifty show. And I said how much I liked Gokusen, but neither of them had seen it.
Ogawa: So who was that 'Mother' person?
Me: Who, Jenova?
Ogawa: No, no, the nice one.
Me: Ohhhh, Aeris.
Ogawa: Yeah, and who was the other guy?
Me: Who?
Ogawa: The guy with her.
Me: Oh! That was Zack.
Ogawa: It's been such a long time since I played, I forgot. Who's Zack?
Me: He's from before the game starts. You know, All of Cloud's memories are really his?
And so on, and so on. It sure beats talking about welding!

Date: 2005-09-20 12:34 am (UTC)Me: So, the scrap built up in the die and caused the slug marks?
Ogawa: I will explain it to you. Yattaman! Do you know Yattaman?
Me: uh, no....
Ogawa: Oh, you should know Yattaman. It was my favorite growing up. *grabs pen and paper and starts to draw mecha* You see when the mecha lands and all the (something) mecha come out, the narrator says "I will explain it to you."
Me: I was always kind of partial to Voltron at that age.
Ogawa: I don't know that one.
Me: I think it had a different title over there. There were 5 lion mecha that made one big one.
Ogawa: Oh! I know that one. I liked that too.
And then we went back to talking about stamping dies and jig maintenance.
