Ok, I know not many people read this LJ (and I don't blame you as it's fairly new and I dont' post much anyway) but I want to jump on the bandwagon and take requests too! It looks like fun. So name a pairing or series and I will try and write a short 100-500 word scribble for you. Pretty please?
But I Know What Time it is Now
Date: 2003-08-27 11:55 am (UTC)He learned quickly how important it was to establish chronology for any given crime. Saying that something was stolen between midnight and six in the morning was far too much leeway to establish tight alibis and check whereabouts. And in a Kaitou Kid case the difference between 12:00 and 12:01 could mean the difference between success and failure.
Keeping track of these little details was Hakuba’s job as a detective. He could remember exactly what day and time he first saw Kaitou Kid. He could remember the exact day and time he first met Kaitou Kuroba.
But he could not remember when his thoughts and feelings for the student cum jewel thief had become so tangled. He wanted to catch the thief and see him in jail. He wanted to wipe the smug look off of Kuroba’s face. And yet at the same time he felt relieved each time the thief escaped, having performed some illegal act of decency. He also wanted to find the cause of the brittle look that sometimes passed over Kuroba’s face, and make that go away as well.
Life without the Kaitou Kid was without challenge. And life without Kuroba Kaito was colorless. And he didn’t know what second, minute, hour or even day it had become so.
