Feeling Blue but Smelling Good
Apr. 27th, 2004 11:29 amFeeling a bit under the weather. Kind of dizzy and tired. I think I have my parents jet lag. I KNOW this must just be because it's almost time for Golden Week and my body, as usual, is seizing the chance to be sick without missing class. Dangit.
So far the year is going great. The new JTE is fantastic. She actually does things like teach and assign homework. I can already see a difference in some of the students. And the elementary schools are going well too. I've started a new phonics regime. We're starting by saying the alphabet phonetically, "ah, buh, k, duh, eh, fff..." and I'm timing them to see how fast they can say it. After a few weeks of that we'll move on to consonant blends, then small words. Yay, go me.
One thing the new teacher is obsessed with is smells. She has a billion and one scratch and sniff stickers, and scented highlighters and things. And I (as I've mentioned before) am a whore to The Bath and Body Shop and their Cotton Blossom line. It's only recently though I've realized it's given me a reputation for smelling good.
Does anyone remember a soap commercial that was on a few years ago where wherever this guy went people would lean in and sniff him because the soap smelled so good? It's kind of like that. My first clue came while playing Fruits Basket and when I sat down next to a kid he said "Oh! It's Ann-sensei's smell!" At first I wasn't sure how to take it, but I figured it was a compliment. The latest, and definately weirdest thing was going to Futakawa and having Momoko rub my hands on her arms to try and get the scent of my hand lotion on her. It was freakin' strange.
But I guess as reputations go, it could be a lot worse. Better than being known for smelling BAD, of course.
