Something Pleasant for Once
Feb. 21st, 2007 09:27 amIn order to celebrate surviving the audit I went to Best Buy to pick up a treat. I really wanted some anime as I haven't seen/purchased anything good in a long time. My Gidget Brain became briefly enamored of the Robotech boxed set and needed to be pried off with a hammer. I reminded it that it was only two weeks or so ago that it had an intense but brief fling with Saiyuki nostalgia. (which is really impressive since I thought the anime was pretty crummy the first time around) Reminding the Gidget Brain was a bad idea because it made it latch on to both the Saiyuki boxed set and the half-box set of Saiyuki Reload Gunlock...(Gunlock Reload? Gunload Relock?).
But saner minds did prevail in the end and I picked up the thinpak boxed set of 'His and Her's Circumstances' aka KareKano. It's such a good series that I felt like it was worth it. I really identify with Yukino in many ways, except that I'm a little to lazy to even attempt some of the perfections she takes on.
When I watched the first two episodes over again I was really surprised though. It does show it's age. In my head it was crisp and sharp with bright colors. But actually it's pretty obvious it's a late 90's anime. I also think that the fansubs I watched in college did a slightly better job with all of the subtitles, but the official version does a pretty decent job. I still find myself cackling and delighting over all the same parts as I did back in college.
