A Decent Pair of Pants
Jun. 21st, 2005 10:50 amI may have ljed about joining the YMCA, I can't remember and I'm too lazy to look it up. But I'm going to, I think. It will be good to do something that doesn't involve sitting down in front of a screen. And this YMCA is honestly pretty slick.
But after I made this decision I realized that I have no gear. No sweatpants, gym bag, no tennis shoes even! I left it all in Japan. No problem, I thought to myself, how hard can it be to find these things?
Apparently, very hard. I could find shorts, I could find capri cut sweats, I could find cropped pants, I could find capri cut yoga pants. But nowhere could I find a pair of plain old sweatpants. It is not the 'in' thing apparently. But capri pants and their ilk involve having cute little socks too, that kind that end before your shoe does so it looks like you're not wearing socks, except you are because otherwise your feet would get sweaty. And it's just too much of a pain to have to be that 'together' just to use a weight machine.
I eventually found a pair of yoga pants that are acceptable. Except for the fact that they're like 8 inches longer than my legs, but my wonderful mother agreed to hem them for me this weekend. And I found a pair of petite ones online.
I also went out and bought some sneakers on sale. They're pink and white, but they were on sale. My feet look about 4 years old.
Oh, and I bought some of those weird footie socks too. Go figure.
