HATE Black Flies
Jun. 8th, 2004 09:26 amMy computer is fixed-ed, and I have returned to the land of the internet-enabled. Wahoo! Sooo happy.
On Saturday I went to the local Firefly festival. It was very cool. They had kagura dancing at the hot spring, and food and games and such. Then at 8 there was a bus to the 'Firefly Village' a spot at a river deep in the mountains were there were HUNDREDS of Fireflies. I can't tell you how pretty it was.
The only downside was that my ankles were attacked by black flies. Only my ankles. Which leads to the question...how did they KNOW? But anyway, got bitten somewhere around 15-20 times. By the next morning my ankles swelled to the size of small elephants and I'm sure it was funny to watch me hobble around. I was pacing during all of my classes yesterday because I can walk around without it hurting too much, but standing still hurts like hell. Luckily this morning they were much better.
If I'm lucky today I'll finish a short story I'm working on about a first contact between magenta tentacle aliens and an elegant socialite.
