Yes! Yes exactly! I bookmarked the 'Star Trek XI' lj interest page, so I can just refresh it and see how many minutes it's been since any of the comms updated.
And I'm liking the Kirk/McCoy too. It just makes more sense to me in this AU, since they have history together now that they didn't originally. (I am a sad geek for going to look up enough information to know that TOS Kirk signed up to Starfleet at 17, and Reboot Kirk not until he was 22. So TOS Kirk wouldn't have been classmates with Uhura and McCoy) And I like Spock/Uhura enough not to want to break them up for the sake of Kirk/Spock.
Which is funny, because Spock Prime was pretty much worse than Merlin's Great Slash Dragon. And not that I'd kick Kirk/Spock to the curb either. But I think it would require a plotty slow burn at this point, and there aren't many of those fics out there yet.
