Master Paper Cutter
Feb. 26th, 2004 09:47 pmRight now (well, not right now, but lately) I'm making a set of Months of the Year for a displat at Futakawa elementary. They want to make an English room, and up over the blackboard have all the months in English along with pictures that signify the months...but in an American way and not a Japanese way. Thus September is back to school instead of April, and there's a turkey for November, and no bean throwing for February. So far I've been having a lot of fun with it. I decided instead of drawing them on colored paper that I'd cut them out of colored paper. The colors would be more vivid and easy to see that way. So I helped myself to the supplies of construction paper and went to town.
(If I am ever an art teacher at HS level or above I am going to make sure there is an assignment that uses construction paper and crayons and such. You CAN do cool art with them, and I'd love to see what some really talented people could do.)
So people wander over to my desk and compliment me on my paper cutting skills a lot. And my 'fontastic' writing skills. Yes, you too can impress and amaze with the girly bubble letters that seemed to be so popular in JHS. And, I have to admit, I'm quite impressed with them myself. My witch turned out very well, and so did my Santa claus. I'm still not sure about the Turkey though. The yellow, red, brown, and orange feathers kind of make it look like the turkey is on fire to me.
I think I shall add this to my list of things I'm very good at that I can never put on a resume.
1. Telling people about cool things.
2. Cutting out construction paper decorations
3. Writing papers about Shakespeare
4. Making Flashcards
5. Making Prezles (got a diploma and everything)
ect, ect.....

Date: 2004-02-27 04:06 am (UTC)I want an English room. Maybe I can convince them to turn the Outdated Computer Lab into an English room. I think it would be a lot of work, but in a way-fun kinda way. I brought all these magazines that aren't getting enough use. What else are you putting into it?
Writing papers about Shakespeare or Making Pretzels... currently debating which one am I more impressed by.
(See you tomorrow!)
