Alison's Camel
Feb. 16th, 2004 10:25 pmThis post is about getting songs stuck in your head. I know sometimes the mere mentioning of a song can make someone else get that stuck in your head. So I'm warning you now, I take no responsiblitiy if you get a song I mention stuck in your head.
Ok?
Ok.
Now I know getting music stuck in your head is nothing new, it happens to everyone. What annoys me is that my brain apparently goes on shuffle mode when I'm asleep, and I always wake up with absurd music in my head. Usually something I haven't heard in months or even years.
This morning I woke up with a song from Mulan. Not the funny ones, the "Whoooo is that girl I-I-I seeeeeee?" one. This is a surprise, I've never gotten Mulan in my head as a wakeup song. Usually I get something from My Fair Lady or Evita. (Evita is EVIL. I am reminding myself never ever to watch that again because the songs stay with me for MONTHS)
Then later at work my brain decided to start throwing in kid's songs. I can understand this, I teach elementary school, I'm always looking for new songs to sing with the kids that teach grammar points or the names of vegetables or something relevant like that. So why in the hell did I end up with "Alison's Camel!?" (Note: I'm not sure if it's Alison's Camel, or Sally's Camel, or somebody else's camel. My brain skipped over the names and straight to the "five humps" bit)
And then while teaching the first years I got "Yesterday" in my head, thanks to today's vocab words. Teaching EFL is actually a bad carreer for someone with as many movie/song quotes in my head. Beisdes all of the songs, I can't say "What is your favorite color?" without wanting to use a silly voice, or then asking "What is your Quest?"

Date: 2004-02-19 07:19 am (UTC)Thanks. I now have the instrumental version of 'Reflections' stuck in my head. And then occasionally, Christina Aguilera's voice pops in.
