The Return of Japanese TV
Feb. 8th, 2004 07:18 pmThere's a show on now that I love. Well....maybe not love, but it's routinely cute. I wish I knew what it was called. They usually start out with Funniest Home Videos, mostly from America but some from Japan. The highlight of tonight's was a mother telling her two sons that in the spring they were going to have a new brother or sister. The littlest one runs up to the cameraman (dad) and yells, "You did it Dad! You did it!"
Then they switch to the wierd section which I think of as "Adventures with Grandpa." A little kid and an old man talk through a TV screen, and then they try and grant one of the little kid's wishes. Like this week they're taking a little kid skiing for the first time. (This particular kid is on a lot and they like setting him up with lots of little girls and seeing how his love life progresses...
On lift...
Little girl: I'm scaared!
Boy: Just hold on to me tight, ok?)
This is almost as good as the show where they have a monkey or little kids doing things on their own for the first time. For instance, the monkey has been sent to a toy store to buy a small plushie and has to navigate buses and streets and trains and such by itself. Or the little kids are sent to the store to buy something and bring it back all by themselves.
Both of these sure beat the hell out of the show the other day which was to see who could stand on one foot the longest.
