I have been fiddling with worldbuilding for Three Winters off and on for a few years now. The main thing I have done is the calendar. And being as that actually ties into knowing what's going on with Franklin's articles and journals, I thought I'd go ahead and post that
There are 15 months in the calendar, three for each of the five seasons. The five seasons are based on the five traditional Chinese elements. So the year goes:
Water:
1 Ice
2 Cleansing
3 Fog
Wood:
4 Moss
5 Planting
6 Grass
Fire:
7 Light
8 Kindling
9 Smoke
Earth:
10 Soil
11 Harvesting
12 Stone
Metal:
13 Silver
14 Crafting
15 Glass
The main bit of 3W is taking place in the months of Kindling & Smoke.

Date: 2007-11-09 06:25 pm (UTC)My characters did trick me into buying a book about WWI yesterday. And I bought a book about WWII last weekend. I long ago surrendered to the fact that I will end up with a lot of unnecessary books every November. At least this time it's history stuff and not Feng Shui.
