Chamber of Secrets
Aug. 9th, 2007 10:49 amI finished re-reading Chamber of Secrets yesterday. And my mom brought up the HP DVD's I gave her so I could re-watch them too and I have more babble. They tie into Deathly Hallows spoilers a bit, so I'll put them
Watching Sorcerer's Stone...I remember when I watched the first time that I wondered why they spent so much time on Dumbledore's magic lighter, since it really wasn't all that important to the story, and they could have cut it easily. Well NOW it all makes so much more sense.
On reading Chamber of Secrets...
You know, the more I go back through the early books, the more I want to shake Dumbledore. If he already knew that Harry was a Horcrux (and even if he didn't know at the beginning, he had to know by the time that Harry started speaking Parseltongue) then, not knowing about Riddle's Diary, it would stand to reason that Harry was opening the Chamber of Secrets. After all, only Voldemort can open the Chamber, and he knew that Harry had part of Voldemort's soul. But he didn't do anything besides ask "Is there anything you want to tell me, Harry?" which seems awfully lax. I mean, at least take a precaution of SOME kind.
flidgetjerome is right, the Weasley's car totally should have shown up in the final battle.
I'd totally forgotten that Hermione had a crush on Lockheart. There was a great deal of LOL'ing.
I can't say how much I love the fact that Harry's a Parselmouth. I don't know why, but I do. And I wish it were used more often in fanfic. (Of course, it might be, I haven't read a lot of HP fanfic the past 2 or 3 years. Which I am sadly making up for now.)
