Yesterday i got up and decided that it was going to be a GOOD day. I was going to turn around this crummy week and get stuff done, and fix some problems! Instead our customer found bad parts out of sorted parts from that last problem. I found out that, luckily, they're not parts that WE sorted, but parts that the sorting company they told me to hire sorted. Then the customer angrily told me that if there's a sort, someone from my company has to be there to supervise. I haven't sent someone down to supervise a sort since 2004. Why haven't they mentioned it before!? But it is a part of their manual, so I can't argue. From now on whenever there's a problem, I'll have to fly someone down to Alabama.

But again, this morning I thought that the past was behind me and it was going to be a wonderful Friday. The company is springing for a fancy lunch (Omg Steak!) for all of us for the holiday. So I got to work this morning and none of the computers were working. I couldn't get at e-mail or company files. While they were fixing it I decided to be useful and help do first piece inspections. And while I did that one of the welding machines malfunctioned, throwing out sparks everywhere and melted the operator's insulin tubing (she's diabetic), and she had to go home to fix it.

I fear for the rest of the day.

It's really tempting. But there are a few rats jumping ship right after the fancy lunch, I know, which means they're going to need the help just to do last piece checks.

Maybe you need to, like, sacrifice a chicken to some dark god of workplace tranquility. Or an inefficient coworker. Whatever gets the best results.

My mother would kill me if I sacrificed a chicken(she collects chicken stuff).

The day's almost over now, so it'll be ok.
