Happy Birthday Ysabet! Go forth and have cake. With ice cream. Ooh, or maybe an ice cream cake.
Last night was, of course, Wednesday, so my favorite Japanese TV show was on. I blame Denise and Melf for getting me addicted to it. It's called Trivia (Toribia) and it's odd in a way only Japan could come up with. See, it's all about weird facts. The two hosts reveal a weird fact and then a panel of semi-celebrities rates how interesting that fact is. They have buttons that say "heeh" which is the Japanese sound for surprise, like an "Ohhh!"
It goes in two rounds, first they tell you the basic fact and it's rated, then they do a little 5 minute clip going into more detail, and usually they do that in a REALLY funny way. Then the celebrities can rate it again. So maybe a good piece of trivia gets 80 heehs. They also have a bit where they make up their own piece of trivia. Like this week they researched what the most common answer on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" is. (in Japan at least it's C)
My favorite piece of trivia from last night's show was that Charlie Sheen once starred as Peter from Heidi in a sequel to the book. It was supposed to take place during WWI and Peter goes off to join the army and...well, really that part doesn't matter. The great part is that there was a Heidi anime, and it was wildly popular out here back when. So after seeing clips from the movie they showed it again, only this time they got the people who did the character voices from the anime to dub it. VERY FUNNY. Especially when Soldier Peter is saving Heidi from enemy troops and things.
