So, I was talking about how Awesome the new BBC show Sherlock was, right?

I seem to have made many LJ icons. I put them up at a Sherlock comm, but I really ought to post them here as well, and share them with you. Images are from all 3 episodes, but nothing particularly spoilery.

the effects on 3. and 4. are really neat!

For 3&4 I took the image I wanted got all the levels and saturation adjusted the way I wanted it.
Then I duplicated the layer.
The top layer got 'Poster Edge' applied, and then I faded it back a touch.
It still leaves lots of grainy bits all over so I erase over those, revealing the layer underneath instead. And sometimes I'll have to use the paint brush to put a bit of jawline back in or something.
Then I made a new layer and used a brush from a set of manga style speed lines (I'd credit if I remembered where I got it, but it was back in '03)
It covers up the hero as well, so then I erased the person back out of that layer.
It's time consuming, but I really really like the 'comic book' effect.

These two were made in an even more extreme way where after you do the poster edges you take out all the color and then paint it back in.
