My One True Fandom
Jan. 2nd, 2008 12:41 pmOne of the things I love about working in the Auto Industry are the shutdowns. Even when I don't get the time off myself, it's so peaceful to catch up on work while there are no employees in the plant. As Ms. Trunchbull believes for schools, I dream of a company with no employees (Two koala march cookies to anyone who gets the reference).
So after a lovely week of being a sloth in Detroit, I am back at work today.
Christmas was great, despite my grinchiness. Half the gifts I gave were greatly appreciated, and I appreciated everything I received. For those of you who were promised presents from me and haven't gotten them yet...let's pretend that Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a long standing day of gift giving.
My favorites of the swag are the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles DVDs. They are just as good, if not better than I remembered them. There are a ton of very good documentaries attached to each disc that explain who everyone in the episode was and what was going on. There are even some about philosophical ideas. They are SO good, in fact, that I have to retract my earlier rant about the price. (The only gripe that still holds is how they combined episodes into two hour mini-movies and cut out the 'Old Indy' bits. Some of the mini-movies make sense combined, like when Indy is a photographer for the Lafayette Escadrille, and then in the second half tries to recruit Anton Fokker for the French, many of the same characters appear and they're both air themed. Some really don't work. Like linking an African safari to the Paris art scene.)
But, uh, yeah. They're awesome. Everyone should have a set. (OMG, I have the DVDs...I can make LJ ICONS!)
