Happy Birthday!
Jan. 29th, 2009 04:03 pmIn honor of
twigcollins's birthday a few people have likened her to the sun. Which is not too far off, because to me, Twig is a Connector.
In Malcolm Gladwell's book 'The Tipping Point' he talks about how ideas are spread thanks to 3 kinds of people. Connectors, Mavens and Salesmen. Salesmen are charming, Mavens obsessively research things and their opinion is law, and Connectors are the people who know everyone. As Gladwell puts it, "their ability to span many different worlds [... as] a function of something intrinsic to their personality, some combination of curiosity, self-confidence, sociability, and energy."
Without Twig I wouldn't know
eramundo,
flidgetjerome,
thorne_scratch,
velithya, or anyone at the
thehouseofmews. I probably never would have played a Final Fantasy game (or indeed ANY video game) without her. I wouldn't know about Cambell's Chunky Chicken & Dumpling Soup. Hell, I wouldn't have started knitting, which has totally eaten my brain.
All this is to say, that Twig is a constant source of good in my life. She is always connecting me with new things and wonderful people. My life wouldn't be half as rich without her in it. Happy Birthday, Twig!
