Saturday my little town had a Pirate Festival. Totally awesome, I thought. Maybe this out-in-the-sticks place is not so bad, I thought. And it's possible that I got there too late for the main event but....WOW was that lame.
How lame? It was being held in the basement of the town pawn shop, lame.
...The Jack Sparrow impersonator was pretty good though. (I wonder if Johnny Depp realized he was changing the face of Piracy forever when he took the part.)

Somewhat disheartened I decided that I had to get the hell out of there. [livejournal.com profile] eramundo had mentioned Milk Tea the other day and that sounded delicious. I decided to head for Columbus and the big Japanese grocery store they have there. But since I left straight from the pirate fest I realized that I had no directions there. No matter, there is a tiny Japanese grocery in Dayton.

They did not have milk tea. But I did load up on pouches of curry that are easy to pop in my lunch. And then I called the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] groveperson to see if she'd like to get dinner. She invited me in for Thai. (OMG guys, this was the most awesome Thai ever. The Masaman (?) curry knocked my socks off)

While we were driving to pick up the Thai it came up that I'd never seen "Blazing Saddles' (I know!) And that she didn't know about the new official Jewish Tartan. She rectified the first by sitting me down and making me watch it. And I'm rectifying the second by posting it here.

Pretty much the moment the movie ended, the skies opened, the thunder rumbled and it was clear that it would be a bad idea for me to drive home that night. So Groveperson kindly put me up for the night. All the while dealing with a cranky baby. She even made pancakes in the morning.

So to recap:
Pirates - Shockingly lame
[livejournal.com profile] groveperson - Unbelievably Awesome

I stoically refused to return to the asian market this weekend to obtain SpecialItem:Milktea! again.

for the sake of my kidneys, I've decided I can't only bankrupt myself on it once a month...

well... once every other week...

well... once a week... but only if I walk alot that week...

well... maybe I can stop on my way home. X-D

Which Columbus grocery store were you aiming for? There are a couple. The biggest one is Tensuke I think, off Old Henderson Rd. If you want to make the trip sometime let me know :) I'm almost out of rice again...
