Inspired by
m_steelgrave's lack of awesome fight scenes to bring to class, and
twigcollins's recent post of the best video game moments....
For the purposes of narrowing it down a bit I've limited it to only fight scenes involving fists & handheld weapons. I think once guns come in to play you've left 'fight scene' behind and entered 'action sequence' territory. I also tried to avoid some of the cliche ones, though I wasn't all that successful.
Crouching Dragon Hidden Tiger
Watching Michelle Yeoh pwn Ziyi Zhang with every weapon in the house just fills me with immense joy.
Bridget Jones Diary
Because this is how a fight would really go. Also, when Bridget's friend runs over to the restaurant to announce the fight I die laughing every time.
Ong Bak
It's really hard to pick a Tony Jaa clip. REALLY hard. I think he's unquestionably the best martial artist out there right now. He has all the acrobatic skill of Jackie Chan, but he's just brutal. Do not get between this man and his elephant.
Prisoner of Zenda
You can't beat the Old School Swashbucklers. (Very hard to pick between this version and the 1952 version)
And finally...
Way of the Dragon
Dude, it's Bruce Lee AND Chuck Norris with gratuitous kitten.
P.S. Anything with Jackie Chan would fit well on this list.
