I need distraction, people. Distraction from my amazing amounts of nothing to do.

What are you finding exciting right now? Personally I'm still in the middle of my Ancient Technology kick. I have books about Chinese inventors, Greek explorers and the history of salt waiting for me on my nighttable now. Can't get enough of this stuff. I keep trying to cram what I can into Penny and Three Winters. Expect Nano-08 to be all about this stuff.

Well, in between picking up accident reports at the police station and rehearsals that last until nearly midnight, I'm looking into the canon of Satan as it appears in various faiths. Like in Islam, he wasn't an angel to begin with, but a djinn (so he's made of fire). His big rebellion was to love God so much that he refused to be subservient to humans even if they were made in God's image, so he was cast out to go check them out and see what all the fuss was about. Gives Milton a run for his money, that's for sure.

So that's MY light reading of late. ^_^

1. I had to get the police report from the idiot backing into my car Monday.

2. Mine started as Nano research, as well. Actually, it started as HP fic research regarding snakes, but as usual I got mesmerized by the links in Wikipedia and there I was.

3. It depends on what you read. Mostly Satan acts as a servant of God to test the faith of humans (Job is pretty much the only book in the Bible that comes close to showing their relationship in that manner). It's really similar to what you find in Christianity, with Satan wanting to prove to God how inferior people are by swaying them to sin. I just like that he started of as a djinn, a creature with free will, and that the hubris is not that he didn't want to be bossed around, but that he was TOO devoted.

I am finding Guilty Gear pretty exciting right now, but I might be a little biased because two of my planned cosplay costimes for this year are Guilty Gear-related, so! :)
