Sorry so Long
Feb. 18th, 2008 08:29 amAnother busy weekend, just a few more things to go before I'm totally done with the moving thing.
The cable guy came on Saturday while I was in the middle of FFXII, which I'm finally getting around to playing for real. While he hooked things up on the outside I scrambled for a save point, fleeing every battle and thwarting Penelo from ever leveling up. So the cable guy and I ended up talking video games the entire time he hooked everything up, it was nice.
Then just as he handed me the instructions for the remote, my parents arrived. My dad hadn't seen the house yet, and mom wanted to get measurements of every wall and appliance to get ideas from. They didn't stay for too long, we went out to lunch, drove over to walmart, callooped around Saint Marys and then they helped me with a few installation problems I needed more than two hands for.
Of course, when I finally sat down with my beautiful new cable, with more stations than I had before....nothing on.
Sunday I woke up early, and was all ready to get on the road except...History Channel International was showing an episode of the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. One that isn't out on DVD yet. So obviously I had to watch that. (Even though I don't particuarly like the Peacock's Eye one. Remy! What's wrong with you!?)
But I did manage to make it back down to my apartment and clean, clean, clean. It was a little disconcerting becuase my apartment was not in the state I left it in. There was a fan going, piping itself under the carpet and one kitchen drawer missing. Gee, maybe they should have come to look at that leak I told them about 3 weeks ago.
It turned out though, that all my cleaning was for naught. The property manager had already been through on her own and said everything looked good.
From there I went down south and turned in my cable box & cable modem. Then I stopped in at DANG's Sunday write in. Only one person was there, but it was great to talk with him over a late lunch/early dinner.
After that I zipped over to the used bookstore and sold back three boxes of books that didn't make the cut to Saint Marys. While I wandered around, waiting for them to call my name I found a book on an ancient Greek explorer, ancient Chinese technology, the history of Salt that I've always wanted to read, and a trashy romance novel. Thanks to the three bags of books, I paid $2.75 for my new treasures.
And of course, instead of going home and sleeping like a good widget I stayed up way way too late reading said trashy romance novel. (It was a Loretta Chase one, Flidget, I think it got good reviews on SBTN...but it's no Mr. Impossible. There is no topping Rupert.)
