It's fun to foil expectations

Tonight was a late night, because I had to translate a phone conference with our Japanese parent company. I came home and napped with the cat a bit since I'm feeling all crampy and yucky, and then went back for the meeting, which went till about 9:30. After that I went to the grocery store. The thing was I was so spaced out I couldn't remember my list, except for pads. So I wandered around aimlessly for a bit and ended up with pads, chapstick, fruit cups, a thing of microwavable sticky rice and a chili starter kit. (The chili kit is actually for my japanese coworker's wife because I made it one time when she & the kids were over, and the kids liked it, but she didn't know what to get or how to make it, so I thought I'd translate the instructions for her.)
Checkout Girl: How are you tonight?
Me: Brain dead. I know this wasn't what I came her for.
Bag Boy/Checkout girl: O.O ... XD! I don't think anyone's ever said that before!
Then after ringing me up the machine spit out the automatic coupon like it always does, which was for Ghiradelli chocolates.
Me: They must know if you buy pads, you need chocolate.
Checkout Girl: O.O ... XD!
