Movin' Right Along
Aug. 19th, 2007 11:24 amI was planning to move out of my apartment at the end of the year, since my contract should be up in December. I put it off last year because of Nanowrimo (yes, I really am that stupid), but I was preparing to not do Nanowrimo this year so I could get out. The complex I live in has been steadily going downhill, and though the apartments themselves are quite nice, the neighborhood really isn't. I didn't have time to explore much when I moved here in the first place.
But the other day I got a letter from the office saying that my contract is up October 1st. Now, I'm sure I could argue it...but why bother when it means I can get out sooner?
So now I'm apartment hunting, and I'm looking to move to a better part of town. Which unfortunately means I won't be able to afford as much apartment. I'm thinking about getting a studio, and even if I go for a one bedroom it will be smaller than what I've got. So I'm starting to go through all my stuff and see what I can live without, which is SO hard. I'm such a total packrat. I always think, 'But what if I kneed that book on the history of spices someday?' And the worst thing is....sometimes I DO. When I moved down here I got rid of a bunch of my Chinese History books, and wouldn't you know it, last year's Nano book was all Hong Kong.
And then there's things like my manga. Which were so difficult & expensive to get, and I don't think they're worth much anymore, even on ebay. *le sigh*
In other words. I want to be out of here....but I don't want to go through the effort.
