New Experiences

I should have known this morning when my hair dryer wouldn't turn on that it was going to be that sort of day. Nah, I shouldn't say that, there were plenty of good things today too. For those of you who may remember her, it was a very Shayne sort of day. Nothing special happened at work, and then I left go to get my hair cut at the fancy place next to the cafe where my book club meets. I want to look cool for my cousin's wedding on Saturday and I decided to go ahead and get some highlights.

On the way there my car started to overheat again. Now usually when it overheats I can crank on the heat and it'll calm down enough to get me wherever I need to go. Not so this time, I had everything on full blast and the needle just kept climbing...all the way up to the top. I managed to get into a parking spot when the car actually started to ding. whew! I hoped that getting hair cut and colored, and then maybe a coffee at the cafe would be plenty of time for it to cool off.

The salon...OMG. It's like...decadence to the nines. Litte aromatherapy bottles for sale, fancy shmancy hair products & makeup. The lady who was supposed to cut my hair didn't show (augh! all that way for nothing!?!? I thought) but they told me if I just waited another half hour a different lady would do it. In the meantime they took me on a little tour. The whole place is decked out in Indian Sari fabric, there's a little pedicure area with velvet & embroidered pillows spilling out like my image of an Arabian Shiek's tent. There were rooms for facials and massages & other assorted treatments. I played a little final fantasy I on my gameboy while i waited since I forgot my book.

This haircut I got is the coolest thing ever...I think anyway (more later). Very hot. Lots of chunky blond highlights and a stylish layery-ish cut. Very IN, which I'm usually not. And then the lady said, "have you thought of having someone do your eyebrows?" and since I HAVE thought of that, since my eyes aren't quite symmetrical and I worry about messing with them too much, I said yes. So after my haircut I had my eyebrows waxed, which was a very new experience. Not as painful as I would have thought. I may re-evaluate thoughts of trying it on my legs.

Before trying to drive home I checked the radiator (now cool) with some cell phone coaching from Dad, but everything seemed to be in order. Confidently I set out for home. I didn't make it very far. I made it to the highway, and got off on the very next exit because my dial shot straight up to red. I waited a bit, played some more FFI...tried again. Made it a little farther that time before getting off the highway again. Repeat. Got off and stopped at a gas station. Waited. Went to go get back on the highway...didn't even MAKE it to the highway. Ironically ended up in the parking lot of a car shop. Should have stayed there but decided to try one last time. Turned around, tried to get back on the highway and the damn car beeped at me again. So I ended up in the parking lot of a Big Boy.

At that point I gave up and called one of the guys from work to please, please, please come get me. He is SUCH a good guy. While I was waiting it started to rain, (Me: Ok, really, that's just too much.) But then it stopped. Kevin came, and drove me back to my place even though it's way out of his way, and told me HIS sob story of the day, which really beat mine except that mine will end up costing a new car.

And now when I look in the mirror I'm not sure whether the highlights look cool, or whether it looks like I'm going very gray in a stripey skunky way. Pictures may follow tomorrow so you can decide.
Dad's coming by tomorrow so we can go buy a new car. I SO don't have the money for this.

*HUG* I'm sorry you had such a Monday. >_< Feel free to vent, you know? 'Tis your journal, you should feel free to say what you like. And also, I think your new hairstyle sounds cool.

Good luck with the car-shopping tomorrow, Ann-sempai. I hope you manage to find something affordable, you know? But a lot of places have weird sales going on, at least down here, so I will knock on wood. And hopefully this week will get better for you.

Ganbatte yo!

Aww man.

*HUG*

At least with a new car you can stop having to worry about all this crap happening to you.
