Fringe Humor

I went back up to Michigan this weekend to get myself a new table from Ikea. My craft table didn't make it, and there are various other things that I still need/crave. But before we hit the Swedish Emporium, my mom took me off to two Chinese furniture stores because she knows that I adore Chinese furniture. I love many things about Japan, but China has them seriously pwned when it comes to furniture.

What followed were terrible puns, one of which can only be loved by an Art History student with a focus on China or possibly.

On the way there:
Mom: We'll go to the East Asia Gallery first, but we'd better leave our coats in the car. They must have just got a shipment in and they just have everything piled on top of each other. You can't even move. It's like being a bull in a china shop.
Me: XD You're funny.
Mom: What?
Me: You know....China shop?

In the shop:
*Beautiful display cabinet, 20% off As Is*
Me: (looking at the things inside the cabinet) Oh! There's a ding.
Mom: Where?
Me: There!
Mom: Where??
Me: Right there!
Mom: I don't see it.
Me: It's right there. That bowl-thing, it's called a ding.
Mom: I thought you meant a scratch and that's why the cabinet was 'as is.'
Me: Sorry.

I didn't get anything at the Chinese store, but I did make out like a bandit at Ikea. And to my great chagrin, I gave in and bought a pair of Crocs. My slippers are wearing out, and the floor of my new house is so nice I want to keep it that way...so I'm going Japan-no-shoes-style. I thought that the crocs would be a good indoor-shoe-substitute. Unfortunately the only ones in my size were newborn baby pink.

Baby pink? We'll make a magical girl out of you yet.

Oh man, the ding conversation - I can so see it, I can so totally see it. I miss you : )

the shoes are so ugly. I mean, they're totally as comfy as everyone says, but they are an ugly pink. I like pink, you know that. But pink should be exhuberant. This pink is......blegh. (Of course once I cover it in spikes and draw all over it with 'crocadoodles' they may be survivable)

But thinking of the magical girl thing. I still have my CCS costume from college. I can't imagine what the movers thought when they packed up my Clow Staff.

Miss you too.

The first one's actually pretty clever!

I can't comment on ding-based humour. My reaction to that word is always that of a five-year-old. Ding! DING!
