Dance, Puppets! Dance!

I need distraction, people. Distraction from my amazing amounts of nothing to do.

What are you finding exciting right now? Personally I'm still in the middle of my Ancient Technology kick. I have books about Chinese inventors, Greek explorers and the history of salt waiting for me on my nighttable now. Can't get enough of this stuff. I keep trying to cram what I can into Penny and Three Winters. Expect Nano-08 to be all about this stuff.

So which came first, the costume love or game love? I know OF Guilty Gear, but I know next to nothing about it. What makes it awesome?

I first heard about the game when my then-cosplay-group decided to do costumes from the latest version of Guilty Gear, so I guess that means the costume love came first!

At first blush, GG looks like just another fighting game but when you scratch the surface there's an entire universe and story behind the fights that weaves together really well. My friend [livejournal.com profile] rallamajoop (who has been a GG fan for much longer than I have, I must admit) has a bit of a pimping post here, if you're interested, with some official art to accompany it as well.

My favourite part of the game is probably the interaction between Sol and Ky, the two main characters (that's them in my first icon up there) who are ostensibly rivals but quite possibly Gay For Each Other. In canon, too - there's a piece of official art featuring them crossing swords with the heading "hostility is akin to love". :3
