General Squee report

Well, I was hoping to have some fun and clever observations about FFXII now that I actually have time to play it. But beyond the fact that I still think that some characters ought to invest in some armor that covers vital organs....(though like VG cats points out, they might just not have the ability to wear armor, like hats)....I really can't lovingly pick on anything. The music is gorgeous, the graphics are gorgeous, Balthier is gorge...uh...you get the idea.


In no particular order...

• After watching the trailer, my first thought was...Wow, this is like Escaflowne without Hitomi. And it IS, it IS!! All the way down to there being a Van. And I adored Escaflowne. Just substitute Bunny Girls for Cat Girls and make Guymelfs into Magicite.



• You've got to love any game where the graphics are good enough that facial expression becomes an important storytelling method.
  
  
• The voice acting is really really good. I like Balthier & Basch's voice better in Japanese, but I think I like Fran's voice better in English, and Penelo just as well either way.



• Balthier is just all kinds of hot. Like suns.



• There is a moogle who says "Oh Noes!"



• Princess Ashe is kind of prissy and bitchy. I love her intensely for not being all sweetness and light.



• Penelo is all sweetness and light, and I love her intesnsely.



• The 'villains' of the empire that have been introduced so far seem to be extremely moral and interested in the welfare of the people. I can't wait to see how it all comes together.
